Boy tortured to death by Rawalpindi police, family allege

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – In yet another incident of police gardi, a 23-year-old boy was tortured to death in police custody on Monday. As per details, police had arrested a 23-year-old boy namely Rehan alias Sanu from his house in Ganj Mandi police precincts over allegations of liquor and tortured him to death. The family of the deceased and area residents surrounded the police station and staged a protest demonstration against the police. The protesters chanted slogans against the police. The brother of the deceased, Imran, said Rehan was a drug addict but not a drug seller, adding that his brother died due to police torture. Meanwhile, afraid of protest, police closed the doors of the police station. On the other hand, police officials said that Rehan was detained on charges of liquor but was taken to hospital when his condition worsen where he later passed away. The officials said that the autopsy report would clear the reason of his death.
