British High Commission offers help to mitigate the socio-economic impacts of the post-flood crisis

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The British High Commission has offered all possible help to Pakistan to mitigate the socio-economic impacts of the post-flood crisis.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar met with British High Commissioner, Christian Turner and UNDP Consultant Sir Michael Barber.

Ishaq Dar said that government is taking steps to ensure fiscal stability for economic growth. “The government aims to ensure economic and fiscal stability leading to economic recovery and growth. Pakistan is meeting its external financial obligations and has recently repaid a one billion dollars bond.”

Besides this, Ishaq Dar also met with the ambassadors of the United States and China. In the meeting, the ambassadors were briefed on the flood disasters and the refugee program.

It was agreed that rehabilitation and resettlement of the flood victims may take several years. Strict conditions for continuation of programs by the IMF in difficult circumstances were also part of the talks.
