CAA verifies licences of 21 pilots working in Oman, Hong Kong Int’l Airlines

KARACHI (92 News) – Licences of 21 Pakistani pilots, working in Oman and Hong Kong International Airlines, have been verified and cleared by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Tuesday. The CAA of Oman and Hong Kong had penned a letter to CAA Pakistan seeking clarification regarding licenses of the 21 pilots, who are working in the Oman International Airlines. The licences were declared clear after forensic audit of the licences by the DG Civil Aviation Authority. It is pertinent mention here that 18 Pakistani pilots are working in Oman and three in Hong Kong International Airlines. Yesterday, CAA had verified licences of 16 out of 17 Pakistani pilots who are currently employed at Malaysia Airlines. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) had asked Pakistani authorities to provide information of pilots employed by the operator in view of recent reports of fake licences. Earlier, the CAA has submitted a report about the fake degrees and licences of pilots to the Supreme Court. According to the report, the inquiry board has pointed out doubtful licences of 262 pilots. Eight pilots, out of 16 having doubtful degrees, have been suspended. The report says orders have been issued to suspend 34 pilots. An application, according to the report, has been sent to the NADRA for biometric verification to avoid the fake licence in future. Pilots will have to give eight different papers to get a licence. The report says the pilots having fake licences had not participated in the exams and tampered with the record. PIA’s 141, SereneAir’s 10 and Air Blue’s nine pilots have been grounded. Some pilots had submitted the fake degrees off FA and O Level.
