Cabinet majority advises not to move SC against LHC verdict

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal cabinet discussed eight-point agenda during a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday. Sources said that a majority of the cabinet members proposed not to move the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding permission to Nawaz Sharif to go abroad. The ministers including Fawad Ch, Ali Zaidi and Faisal Vawda floated the proposal. Later addressing the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that they respect the courts. “The condition of the surety bonds was not illegal,” he said. Addressing a press conference along with Law Minister Farogh Naseem about the decisions made in the meeting, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the meeting had discussed the issue of the departure of Nawaz Sharif. “The prime minister has raised the slogan of ‘One Pakistan, Not Two’. We have to make the laws more effective for this slogan,” she said. She said that the cabinet had appreciated the step taken by the prime minister on humanitarian grounds. “The PTI is working along with its allies to end inequality in vogue in our society,” she said. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the forum had approved the new policy for alternative energy. “The cabinet also approved the Nov 8 decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee,” he said. She said that the cabinet had also approved the new National Tariff Policy. The SAPM said that the current deficit had reduced first time in the history of the country. “The results of the improvement in the economic indicators would reach the people soon,” she added. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the prime minister had also sought the data of aged prisoners involved in petty crimes. “The meeting also approved the projects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),” he said.
