Cabinet members express severe reservations over mini-budget, SBP Amendment Bill

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The cabinet members have also expressed severe reservations against the mini-budget and State Bank of Pakistan Amendment Bill.

According to sources, the members are of the view that empowering the SBP is like to create a state within a state. “The Finance Amendment Bill will bring a severe inflation. The cost of foreign loans will also increase due to the bill. The SBP Bill will be like surrendering national economic sovernignity. There will be an increase in the difficulties of the masses with the increase in taxes of pharma, plant and machinery industries,“ they opined.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has suggested that not to give attention to the statement of cabinet members and the opposition. He declared that SBP Amendment Bill is part reforms of institutions.

Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials said that they will try their best to keep the inflation at the maximum low level by withdrawing the tax exemption. "We agreed the IMF on Rs343 billion instead of withdrawing the tax exemption of Rs700 billion," they said.
