Cabinet rejected proposal to declare health emergency: Firdous Ashiq Awan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting said that the federal cabinet had rejected the proposal to declare health emergency in the country. Briefing the media about decisions taken by the federal cabinet on Tuesday, she said that the government seeks consensus of the opposition for legislation being done in favour of the national interests. She said that the cabinet approved the appointment of Tariq Khuda Dad as permanent chairman of State Life Corporation. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the letter for return Nawaz Sharif had been written on the recommendation of the medical board that allowed him to go abroad. “The PM ordered the provincial governments to devise an effective mechanism for measuring demand and supply of edible items in the country to provide relief to the people. He also directed the provincial governments to take strict action against profiteers, adulterers and hoarders and ensure provision of edible items of daily use to people on affordable rates.” She said that the prime minister had taken notice of the reports of corporal punishment to children in schools and directed the minister concerned to devise a course of action to stop this practice. Minister of Energy Omar Ayub Khan presented a comprehensive roadmap on demand and supply of electricity, high rates of utility bills, circular debt and infrastructure and related issues. The prime minister appreciated the performance of Energy Minister. Meanwhile, all participants underwent screening of coronavirus before the meeting presided over by the prime minister.
