Cable operators demand postponement of DTH for two years

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Cable Operators Association has demanded the postponement of DTH for two years. Addressing a press conference after a meeting with PEMRA chief Absar Alam on Monday, Cable Operators Association chief Khalid Arain said that DTH is being launched to favor some people. He said that the move was economic murder of cable operators. “We are against Indian DTH and channels. The DTH policy has been introduced abruptly. The PEMRA has not accepted our demands and behavior of its chief was very rude,” he said. Khalid Arain threatened to go on strike and stage sit-ins if their demands were not accepted. He said that the people selling DTH for the last eight years had not been arrested. The Cable Operators Association chief said that the PEMRA crackdown had not reduced DTH, but increased. He urged the users to discourage the Indian DTH.
