Cantonment board elections: ECP rejects PTI's request to deploy army
ISLAMABAD (92News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the PTI's request to deploy troops in the cantonment board elections.
According to sources, the ECP said that there was no need for army in the presence of police, Rangers and FC.
A heavy contingent of Rangers, FC and police will be deployed for the security of the elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan informed the PTI in writing about the decision.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner on the request of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
A few days ago, the PTI had requested for the deployment of troops in the cantonment board elections scheduled for September 12.
