ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that they registered cases against those people against whom no one could even cast an eye.

Addressing a ceremony on Thursday, he urged the people not to appreciate the NAB as well as not to criticize it for sake of criticism. “The NAB made recoveries of Rs541 billion in four years. We recovered Rs20 billion even from mice of Sukkur. We took 200 disciplinary actions in four years. In the last 16 years, only 100 disciplinary actions were taken,” he maintained.

The NAB chairman said that some people tried to raise a storm in a teacup over the matter of recovery. “I still take stand on recoveries of Rs541 billion. The credit of recovery goes to all officers. We recovered Rs14 billion from a housing society that does not mean the amount was kept in a locker. The recovered amount is returned to victims. I was asked that why the recovered money was not submitted to the national exchequer. I have record of amount which I have distributed,” he added.

Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that there is not any law that recovered amount shall be submitted in National account. “An amount of Rs55 billion was recovered from housing societies. I appreciate innocence of people a lot, but innocence should not be the extent that your investment does not remain secure,” he concluded.
