Corps Commanders Conference terms Indian army chief’s statement as irresponsible rhetoric

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The Corps Commanders Conference discussed provocative statements of the Indian military leadership, calling it irresponsible' rhetoric with implications on regional peace and stability. In his tweet, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the 228th Core Commanders Conference (CCC) was held under the chair of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters on Tuesday. In today’s session, the forum reviewed the strategic, regional and national security in relation to the borders, Line of Control and Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). COAS General Qamar Bajwa said that Pakistan will continue to play its role for regional peace without compromising on national security, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations. “The army chief said that Pakistan is the lead participant in the region with significant contributions towards peace and stability. “We shall continue to play our responsible and positive role towards this end without compromising national security and defence of the motherland at whatever cost,” said the COAS, according to the ISPR. The CCC meeting also took into account the "provocative statements" of the Indian military leadership, said the ISPR, calling it “irresponsible rhetoric with implications on regional peace and stability”. The ISPR said that regional peace in relation to the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran was also reviewed in the meeting. “The forum reviewed evolving security situation in the Middle East with reference to US-Iran stand off and its implications on regional peace and stability,” stated the press release.
