CEC Raja Shehbaz visits various polling stations in GB

 During the visit, the chief election commissioner visited central control room established to monitor general elections in GB. He also inspected arrangements at the control room while Gilgit-Baltistan’s chief secretary also briefed him on the occasion.

Raja Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the performance of the local administration in conducting the polls. 

On the occasion, he said that the polling process is underway peacefully in the entire region. "Despite the intense cold weather, the enthusiasm of voters are being seen commendable. No complaints of mismanagement have been received anywhere. The ban on mobiles and Corona SOPs are also being taken care of," he added.

On the other hand, the voting process is underway for the general elections of Legislative Assembly in Gilgit-Baltistan aimd tight security

The polling started at 8am and will continue until 5 pm without any break. A three-pronged contest between the PTI, People’s Party and PML-N is expected as the opinion polls suggesting PTI ahead in the contest.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are among the parties contesting for the 23 constituencies of the GB assembly.

Meanwhile, polling in constituency GBA-3 has been postponed due to the death of a candidate. The polling will now take place on November 22.

Almost 13500 security personnel from GB, Punjab, KPK, Sind and Balochistan are deployed at their respective polling stations across GB.

Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan has prohibited to carry mobile phones and other such devices inside the polling stations and within the parameters of 100 meters.
