ISLAMABAD (92 News) - A PTI delegation led by party vice-president Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sikandar Sultan at his office on Thursday.

Earlier, the PTI delegation apprised him of their reservations. They demanded that the returning officers (ROs) should be appointed from the judiciary, not the bureaucracy.

The CEC told the delegation that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had excused from providing the judicial officers for the elections. He said that the elections could be postponed by further delaying the appointment of the ROs.

About denial of permission for the election campaign by the Lahore administration, the CEC assured the PTI delegation that the ECP would strictly monitor the election campaign. "All parties will be provided equal opportunities," he said.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that they had come to the ECP after forgetting bitterness of the past. "We received a positive response from the ECP about their reservations about the elections. Our target is the conduct of the fair elections," he added.
