ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri has rejected the statement of Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, saying the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will decide the Eid as per Sharia in Karachi today. Talking to the media on Saturday, he said that Fawad Chaudhry is his good friend, but nowadays he is playing ‘chand, chand’. “People and the government will celebrate Eid as per decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee,” he said. The minister said that the assistance of modern equipment and science can be taken to see the moon. “A representative of the Science and Technology Ministry has been included in the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee this time,” he declared. He clarified that only Ulema would make the decision on Eid. Earlier on Saturday, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had claimed that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on May 24. Talking to the media, he said that all Muslim countries are celebrating Eid on Sunday. He said that the moon age at the sunset would be 20 hours today. “The moon can be sighted in Sanghar, Badin, Thatha, Jeewani and Pasni can be sighted from 7:36pm to 8:14pm,” he maintained. On May 21, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had once again demanded removal of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. In a statement, the minister said that the EidulFitr would fall on Sunday (May 24) and demanded for abolition of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. “There is no need for such a committee in this modern era, he said while criticizing the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
