December 6, 2019
LAHORE (92 News) – An Accountability court on Friday has extended judicial remand of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s nephew Yousaf Abbas for 14-days in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. During the hearing, Yousaf was presented before court. The NAB prosecutor pleaded with court to give more judicial remand. The court directed to the investigation officer for filing a reference as soon as possible Due to the exemption from appearance, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz did not appear before court. Later the court extended the judicial remand of Yousaf for 14 days. On the other hand, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) moved a plea in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking cancellation the bail of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The corruption watchdog body has filed an appeal against the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) verdict regarding bail of Maryam Nawaz in the top court. In the petition, the bureau adopted a stance that the LHC verdict on the matter of Maryam was against the SC’s orders. It also stated that the observations on evidence given by the LHC can affect the trial of bail case. The NAB further pleaded to the court to declare LHC’s October 31 verdict as null and void.
