Check-post attack: Ali Wazir remanded in CTD custody for eight days

PESHAWAR (92 News) – An anti-terrorism court on Monday granted an eight-day physical remand of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader MNA Ali Wazir to the Counter Terrorism Department officials in the Pakistan Army’s check post attack case. Ali Wazir, who was involved attacks on Pakistan Army’s Kharqamar check post on Sunday, was presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Bannu. Ali Wazir has been transferred to Peshawar. During the hearing, the court ordered to hand Ali Wazir over to the CTD for eight days after which he was transferred to Peshawar for further investigation. It is pertinent to mention here that the PTM leader was arrested for provoking the protestors to attack the security force’s check post. The MNA was presented in local court in Bannu.
Innocent PTM workers, supporters need care, says DG ISPR
Innocent workers and supporters of the PTM needed care, Inter-Service Public-relation (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Sunday. In an update on Twitter regarding the NWTD incident, Maj Gen Ghafoor, the director-general of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), wrote: “Only few are inciting and using them against state institutions for vested agenda.” “No one will be allowed to undo the gains of decades long national struggle & sacrifices especially of brave Pakistani tribals,” he added in his message on the social media website. The DG ISPR’s tweet comes after five army soldiers were injured in firing opened by a group of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
Five soldiers injured by firing of PTM’s group: ISPR
Earlier today, five army soldiers were injured in firing opened by a group of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) while attacking Khar Kamar check post, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. According to the ISPR, a group led by MNA Mohsin Javed and MNA Ali Wazir assaulted Kharqamar check post at the North Waziristan tribal district. “They wanted to exert pressure for the release of suspected terrorists’ facilitator arrested the other day. Troops at the check post exercised maximum restraint in the face of provocation and direct firing on the post,” the ISPR said. It also said that the attackers came with a motive to release some suspected terrorists, however, three attackers were killed and 10 sustained injuries in the exchange of fire, ISPR said. It added that due to the firing of the group as many as five soldiers also got injured. According to the ISPR, PTM’s leader Ali Wazir among seven aides were taken into custody, whereas, Mohsin Dawar [Member of National Assembly and PTM’s leader] managed to flee from the location.
