ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa has asked the critics of the judges to be a little bit cautious. Addressing a ceremony on Wednesday, he said that the prime minister should not taunt the judges with the word of ‘powerful’ as he himself had allowed him (Nawaz Sharif) to go abroad. “We convicted a prime minister and disqualified another one. The case of former army chief is about to be decided. Only the law is powerful before us,” he said. Responding to the prime minister’s reference to resources, Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said that the present judiciary should not be compared with the judiciary in 2009. “Whatever we did up till now did without resources. We disposed of the pending murder cases in 17 districts,” he said. He said that 3.6 million cases were decided during the last year. “We rectified a few aspects of the system. I want to tell everyone that the judiciary has 3,000 judges and magistrates,” he said. The CJP said that presently not a single narcotics case is pending in 23 districts. “We will perform better if more resources are provided to us. The judiciary is working very hard. One of the judges did not attend the wedding of his sister to dispose of the pending cases,” he said. He said that a silent revolution had occurred. “The SP Complaint Cells are yielding positive results. We are changing with the needs of the society. The PM is the chief executive and an elected representative of the country,” he said. Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa welcomed the prime minister’s attention towards the resources of the judiciary.
