ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa has condemned the attack on Punjab Institute of Cardiology, saying what happened in the hospital shouldn’t have happened. Addressing a conference with regard to speedy and cheap justice in Islamabad on Saturday, he hoped that such incident would not happen in future. “Doctors and lawyers belong to respectable professions. They will have to go through self-accountability,” he said. He said that he could not discuss the matter as it is sub judice in the Lahore High Court. The CJP said that only those people bring about a change who are ready to take the risk. “We decided to raid the model courts and monitored the proceedings for hours through secret cameras. We were astonished to see the fairness of the trial,” he said. He said that 115,000 cases were disposed of in just 208 days. “Fines amounting to Rs120 billion would be submitted to the national exchequer,” he said. CJP Asif Saeed Khosa said that he often questions the lawyers about the position of trials in their districts. Addressing DG Khan District Bar Association on November 30, Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa has said that there is no need of forming a High Court bench at each place after the video link. He said that his father wanted to see him a CSP officer. “But I revolted against my father’s decision and decided to remain independent. I started practice from Dera Ghazi Khan,” he said. He said that the DBA had offered his father to make the president unopposed 40 years ago, but his father refused to accept it. “I thank all lawyers for the respect bestowed on my father about 40 years ago,” he said. “I have never succumbed to pressure since my childhood.” The CJP said that education is the only way to progress. He urged young lawyers not to meddle their personal problems in the profession. “Lawyers should give more respect to judges much more than the respect they desire for themselves. A good character is also essential for self-respect,” he said .
