ISLAMABAD (92 News) – China has prepared a vaccine to treat COVID-19 patients and it would be launched in Pakistan in three months. This was disclosed by Senior Anchorperson Saadia Afzaal during 92 News' Program ‘News@5’ on Wednesday. She said that the world is in the grip of the fear of coronavirus and it is a matter of pride that Pakistan is going to launch it. “The Chinese government and embassy have helped us a lot in this regard,” she added. Expressing his views during the program, National Institute of Health Major General Dr Amir Ikraam said that China has started work on the trial. “It is hoped that the vaccine will be launched in Pakistan in three months,” he said. He said that several companies are trying to invent the vaccine, but China has invented it. “Generally, the process of invention and marketing of a vaccine takes 8-10 years. The newly-introduced vaccine needs clearance from several institutions, including DRAP. We will resolve these matters at the earliest,” he said. The novel coronavirus – which originated in the central China city of Wuhan towards the end of December 2019 – has spread to all continents excluding Antarctica. The COVID-19 respiratory illness caused by the mysterious contagion has so far killed thousands of people and infected tens of thousands of others across the globe.
