Chinese doctors reach Pakistan for support in fight against COVID-19
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A team of Chinese doctors headed by Maj Gen Huang Qingzhen along with medical supplies and equipment arrived Pakistan by two special flights.
According to a press release issued by the ISPR on Friday, the Chinese doctors who have expertise in treating infectious diseases shall support Pakistan’s efforts in fighting against COVID-19 situation for the coming two months.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza along with senior military officials welcomed the team.
The Chinese support reaffirms that being ‘Iron Brothers’ and ‘All-Weather’ friends, Pakistan and China have always helped each other in the time of need.
On March 28, a special Chinese plane carrying medical equipment and eight doctors landed at Islamabad airport.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received the relief goods.
The eight-member doctors team will remain in Pakistan for two weeks and advise health care specialists of Pakistan in the light of their experience and success in battling Covid-19.
China's assistance to Pakistan so far includes 12,000 test kits, three million masks, 10,000 protective suits and US$4 million to construct an isolation hospital. In addition, China has also provided 50,000 masks each to Islamabad and Sindh.
