Chinese Political Bureau Member Zhang Chunxian calls on COAS General Raheel Sharif

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Zhang Chunxian, Member of the Political Bureau of Communist Party, China called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at GHQ on Tuesday. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional stability and measures to enhance bilateral defense and security collaboration were discussed. Zhang Chunxian acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts towards fighting terrorism and appreciated the successes achieved in the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb. While underlining the importance of CPEC, Zhang Chunxian said that CPEC will have highly significant and long-term impact on the region and is equally beneficial for people of Pakistan and China. The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensure secure environment for timely completion and subsequent management of the CPEC in the best interest of prosperous region. Earlier, he held a meeting with Adviser to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. They discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, economic cooperation, CPEC, people-to-people contacts, culture, education and science and technology.
