Chohan holds PML-N responsible for attack

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Chohan held Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) responsible for attack on him. Addressing a press conference after lawyer incident in Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), the minister claimed that N-league is responsible for attack on him. “One of the lawyer, who attacked on me, is close aide of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz. “I tried to mediate on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar but the lawyers thrashed me. They tried to kidnap me and even opened fire behind my back side,” Fayyaz Chohan maintained. The provincial minister said that the government will register first information reports (FIRs) against all responsible for the violence and hand them exemplary punishments. The minister said that after arriving at the hospital and had 10 lawyers arrested. He also said that he had the lawyers arrested for their protection against police shelling. “When I ran from the lawyers because they tried to kidnap me, I heard shots being fired,” he said. “The blame for this violence goes to the lawyers. We will register FIRs against them."

Fayyaz Chohan attacked

After the attack, doctors, staffers and patients came out of the hospital. Lawyers also resorted to aerial firing outside the hospital. They also tortured Punjab Minister for Information Fayyazul Hassan Chohan. The violent protesters also set a police van on fire. Owing to the protest, emergency of the Services Hospital was also closed. On the other hand, doctors besieged Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid when she reached PIC to look into the matter. The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) demanded the resignation of Dr Yasmin Rashid. Meanwhile, PFUJ president Shahzad Butt and secretary general Rana Azeem have condemned the torture of media persons by the lawyers. During a press conference on Tuesday night, doctors had apologized for second time.
