Christians celebrating Easter across Pakistan

LAHORE (92 News) – The Christian community in the country is celebrating Easter today (Sunday) amid strict security arrangements at churches.

Large number of people including children and elders thronged to the churches in different cities including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad where special prayers were offered for the country.

Christian community holds prayers and special ceremonies to mark Easter, the culmination of the 40-day Lent, a time of fasting, giving alms, repenting and spiritual renewal.

The community is attending the service and prays for progress and prosperity of the country.

On the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that all minorities in Pakistan are enjoying equal rights and the government has taken concrete measures for their welfare.

In his message on the occasion of their Easter festival, he said that Easter is the name of spending time with deserving people and sharing joys by thinking above ourselves.

The Punjab CM said that the Christian community is playing its due role for country's progress.

The chief minister said the constitution of Pakistan has provided guarantee for the equal rights and complete protection to all minorities.
