Chunian incident: Main accused remanded in CTD custody for 15 days

LAHORE (92 News) – Main accused, who involved in killing of four minors in Chunian area of Kasur, has been remanded in Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for 15 days on Wednesday. Main accused Sohail Shehzad presented before anti-terrorism court (ATC) amid tight security. The court approved his physical remand for 15 days. According to the reports, the main aacused in murder of four minors in Chunian identified as Sohail Shehzad S/O Muhammad Aslam has been arrested.

The suspect was involved in all 4 incidents and DNA has matched. Geo-fencing for 1,649 suspects was done and DNA samples of 1,543 were tested and Sohail was involved in all murders and government would get his remand from ATC. The accused is resident of Rana Town near Lahore and his name was also included the lists of suspect in case. He also admitted his crime during the preliminary investigation. Suspect Shehzad was also faced the charges of sexually assaulting a child before eight years.

Parents demand to public hanging of convict

The parents of deceased minors demanded the public hanging of the main accused. It is pertinent to mention here that four children between eight to 12 years of age had gone missing in Chunian since June. The police were informed about the body of a child in a ditch. Later, the police also recovered remains of two more minors from the sand dunes. A wave of shock and terror gripped Chunian when the police recovered the bodies. As per the postmortem examination reports, all the victims were sexually assaulted before being killed. Locals suspected a gang was behind the killing of minor boys after rape.

A day earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar announced that the accused involved in killing and abusing four children has been arrested. Addressing a press conference, he said that the accused has been identified as Sohail Shahzad, son of Muhammad Aslam, who committed all the four children after abusing them. “The body of a boy while bones of other three children have been identified,” he said.

The chief minister said that he had visited the families of the victims after performing Umrah and assured them of justice. “Geo-fencing of the suspects was conducted. The polygraph test of the accused was conducted,” he added. He said that the anti-terrorism court will try the case daily. Usman Buzdar announced said that Child Protection Bureau will be established in Kasur, while Chunian will be linked to Safe City Authority. “We will introduce legislation so that no should dare to commit such crime in future.”
