ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The federal government on Thursday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the acquittal of the PTI founder and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

It has been contended in the petition that the Islamabad High Court was not authorized to hear the appeal as the Official Secret Act does not grant the right to appeal against the trial court verdict.

It stated that the prosecution had presented solid arguments in the cipher case. It appealed to the Supreme Court to declare null and void the verdict of acquittal of the PTI founder and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
