Citizens protest against prolonged load shedding in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – As various areas of Karachi continues to suffer power failure, the perturbed citizens stormed the K-Electric office in Nazimabad area amid soaring temperatures in the holy month of Ramadan.

Various areas of Karachi including Nazimabad, Manghupir, Orangi Town  and other areas remained in dark posing troubles to people during Sehar, Iftar and Taraveeh timings. Also, citizens in rural areas remained afflicted with power outages around Sehri time.

The agitating protesters torched the office benches and a checkpost. The protesters also pelted stones on vehicles.

Protesters also blocked the main road and set ablaze tyres causing disruption in traffic flow.

Following the protest, police and Rangers reached the spot to control the situation. The law enforces managed to disperse protesters.

Karachiites criticized the K Electric firm said it had promised an uninterrupted power supply to the city at least during Sehar and Iftar times, but had failed to keep its vow on the first day of Ramadan.

On the other hand, In Hyderabad, the 500-KVA National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) line has tripped throwing almost 13 districts of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) into darkness.
