ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has on Friday refused to fly to New Delhi to attend a global conference which India is hosting from October 21-23. The step by the Chief Justice of Pakistan comes after Delhi claimed it carried out “surgical strikes along the Line of Control (LoC)”. The Chief Justice of India had invited Anwar Zaheer Jamali to attend the conference on a national initiative towards strengthening arbitration and enforcement in India. The CJP said that he cannot attend the conference due to the current tensions between the nuclear arch rivals. Tensions between India and Pakistan have been simmering since popular militant commander Burhan Wani was killed on July 08, 2016 which triggered a massive public uprising in which at least 90 civilians were killed and other 14500 were injured in forces action. India also pulled out of the Pakistan-hosted 19th SAARC summit scheduled to be held in November. Following suit, several members of SAARC, including Bangladesh and Bhutan, pulled out of the summit leading to its postponement.
