CJP forms five-member larger bench to hear Model Town case on Dec 5

LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar ordered to form a five-member bench to hear plea for a new joint investigation team (JIT) in the Model Town tragedy case. The larger bench will hear the case in Islamabad on December 5. During the hearing, the CJP remarked that the larger bench will comprise of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa. Dr Tahirul Qadri said that the indictment of former IGP Mushtaq Sukhera had brought their case to zero. Talking to the media outside SC Lahore Registry, PAT leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that they are thankful to the CJP and hopeful of getting justice. “We will wait for life to get justice,” he said. PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and a large number of workers were also present. The workers also chanted slogans against Shehbaz Sharif. The two-member bench headed by CJP heard the plea for a new joint investigation team (JIT) at Lahore Registry on the application of Bisma Amjad, daughter of one of the martyrs Tanzeela Amjad. The court had issued notices to 139 people, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, former CM Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah, Daniyal Aziz, Pervaiz Rasheed, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Asif, Abid Sher Ali and others. On October 6, CJP Mian Saqib Nisar had taken notice on the application of Bisma Amjad, one of the victims. On June 17, 2014, 14 people were killed and 100 others injured after police launched an assault on PAT supporters gathered outside the residence of Qadri in Model Town, Lahore.
