CJP orders NAB to decide 3 references against Sharif's within a month
June 10, 2018
LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar ordered on Sunday the accountability court to announce verdict on all three references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz within a month. Hearing an application filed by NAB Court at Lahore Registry of Supreme Court today, the chief justice rejected the plea by Nawaz Sharif's lawyer Khawaja Haaris to complete the trial in six weeks instead. He said these cases should be decided now without any further delay and directed the NAB court to hear the references even on Saturdays, if needed. During the hearing, he remarked that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam can go to London for inquiring of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz's health if he wanted to during the trial period, after filing application. It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court had previously twice extended the duration of the case. It had ordered to announce verdict in the case within three months. However; when the trial failed to complete in six months, SC provided two more months to accomplish the process.
