CJP rebukes son-in-law, DIG for seeking undue ‘favor’
April 29, 2018
LAHORE (92 News) –Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday summoned his son-in-law for trying to get a favor for an official in a case pertaining to child custody. Hearing a custody case filed against Punjab Highway Patrol DIG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry, the CJP expressed his displeasure and asked DIG Khalid Mahmood Dogar who recommended him to approach CJP’s kin for ‘support’. He questioned the official’s audacity to ask son-in-law Khalid Rehman for a favor. Chastising Dogar, Mian Saqib Nisar reiterated that he fought a war against injustice and how can he try to earn favors. Seeing Justice Nisar annoyance, the DIG sought an unconditional apology from the top judge who refused to accept it. “I do not need your regret. Just inform me who recommended you to use private connection?” asked the top judge. Later on, the Supreme Court summoned top judge’s son-in-law to immediately appear before the court in person.
