September 27, 2016
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the objections raised by the Registrar Office over petitions seeking an inquiry into the Panama Leaks. The CJP, after hearing the arguments of counsels of both the parties, directed to address the objections on the petitions submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). The Supreme Court ordered to initiate further proceedings and constituted a three-member bench for the purpose. At least four political parties, including the PTI and the JI, had submitted petitions to initiate an inquiry into the Panama Leaks scandal, but the Registrar Office termed them “frivolous”. On this, the PTI had challenged the rejection of their petitions in the SC.
