CJP Saqib Nisar bans telecast of Indian content on Pakistani channels
October 27, 2018
KARACHI (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has banned the broadcasting of Indian content on Pakistani channels. During the hearing of a case at Karachi Registry on Saturday, he remarked: “Should we not shut down Indian channels as India is closing our dams?” he said. The CJP also suspended the verdict of the SHC in this regard. He remarked that only allowed content should be telecast and there will be a complete ban on the Indian content. The airing of Indian content on electronic media channels was banned by the PEMRA on October 19, 2016, following the brutal killings of the innocent Kashmiris, the use of pellet guns in India-held Kashmir and the killing of Burhan Muzaffar Wani. The SHC had granted a stay to the private TV channel against the show-cause notices issued by the Pemra for airing Indian dramas.
