CJP takes suo moto notice of Asad Munir’s suicide note
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has taken suo motu notice on the letter of former Capital Development Authority (CDA) officer Brigadier (r) Asad Munir before alleged suicide.
After receiving the letter by the Supreme Court (SC), the CJP took first suo moto notice of the suicide note left behind by Asad Munir and sought reply from National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal in the matter.
It is pertinent to mention here that Munir, a former member of the CDA and former intelligence operative allegedly committed suicide last Friday. Asad Munir wrote a letter before committing suicide.
It was reported that a day earlier from suicide, he was upset and stated that the NAB during its executive board meeting had granted approval for the filing of a reference against Asad Munir. NAB had accused Munir of misusing his authority and restoring a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.
Ex-CDA member Brigadier (r) Asad Munir allegedly commits suicide
Earlier, defence analyst Brigadier (r) Asad Munir, former Member State Capital Development Authority (CDA), has allegedly committed suicide.
According to the police, the defence analyst’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his flat in Diplomatic Enclave. The police said that the former intelligence officer allegedly commit suicide yesterday night with hanging to death from fan.
The police shifted the body of Asad Munir to PIMS hospital for post-mortem. The Islamabad commissioner accepted the plea of defence analyst’s family for not conducting postmortem examination of the body.
It was reported that the body was handed over to his son Amaldar Munir after legal formalities. The police sources said that there is no cause of committing suicide ascertained till now.
Khalid Munir, elder brother of Brig Asad Munir, tweeted that his brother has passed away and the funeral will be offered at 5pm at H-8 Grave Yard on Friday. He did not disclose the cause of death.
The deceased was residing in an apartment at the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad. He was a former intelligence operative with extensive experience of working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the tribal areas.
At one point, he was the incharge of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) in Peshawar. Following his retirement from the military, he had also worked as a defence analyst.
