CJP Umar Ata Bandial appeals to nation to unite in wake floods

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has appealed to the nation to unite in the wake of floods.

Addressing a ceremony of the New Judicial Year on Monday, he urged all political leaders, decision-makers and privileged class to unite after shunning their differences. "It is time to work for the betterment of the nation after ignoring personal agendas," he maintained.

The CJP warned that the court will not hesitate if an attempt was made to attack or undermine the constitution or constitutional institutions. "The SC is aware of the recent political challenges and severity of the economic conditions," he said.

He said that the SC judges had donated the three-day salary to the flood victims, while the staffers had donated their two-day salary.

The CJP said that the SC will continue to protect the constitution and basic rights.
