CM announces to increase capacity of COVID-19 tests in Punjab by 10,000

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Wednesday has announced to increase the capacity of COVID-19 tests in the province by 10,000. In a statement, the Punjab chief minister said that soon Punjab will be able to hold 10,000 coronavirus tests on daily basis. “Over 43,000 tests have so far been conducted in the province,” he added. CM Buzdar said that the steps taken by the government to combat coronavirus are giving fruitful outcomes and the commission will be authorized for ease in the lockdown at local level. The Punjab chief minister further told that strategy is being formulated to provide relief to the general masses in Ramazan. On the other hand, the death toll increased to 107 after 11 more deaths were reported during the last 24 hours. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the number of total patients soared to 5,988 with 272 new cases across the country on Wednesday. Punjab tops the patients tally with 2,945 cases followed by Sindh with 1,518. There are 140 patients in Islamabad, 865 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 240 in Balochistan, 46 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 234 in Gilgit-Baltistan. In total, 1,446 patients have recovered so far. Of them, the condition of 46 is stated to be critical. The number of tests conducted so far is 73,439 with 3,280 done during the last 24 hours.
