CM Buzdar takes notice of cut in health workers’ salaries

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar took notice of cut in health workers’ salaries on Thursday. The Punjab chief minister said that the salary of health workers won’t be cut and a special allowance will be given to them. He also said that doctors and paramedical staff will receive two months’ salaries for the month of April. Health workers are on the frontline in the battle against the novel coronavirus across the globe. In Pakistan, 15,934 known cases have been reported with 355 fatalities. It is pertinent to mention here that all health workers in Punjab whose two-day salary was cut as part of a donation for the PM’s Coronavirus Relief Fund will be reimbursed. On the other hand, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the country jumped to 15,759. According to the National Command and Operation Center, there are 6,061 cases in Punjab, 5,695 in Sindh, 2,313 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 978 in Balochistan, 333 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 313 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 66 in Azad Kashmir. As many as 4,052 patients have so far recovered while the death toll from the virus stands at 346 with 19 new deaths and 874 new cases reported during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 174,160 tests have been conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic, with 8,249 conducted during the last 24 hours.
