LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has granted in-principle approval for the establishment of the first government cancer hospital in Lahore.

During his visit to Manawan Hospital, the chief minister personally inspected the designated site for the cancer hospital and the existing hospital building, directing a comprehensive plan in this regard.

Furthermore, he assessed an adjacent building and has assigned the task of converting Manawan Hospital into a specialized cancer treatment facility. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that Punjab, with a population of 140 million, lacks a state-of-the-art cancer hospital, leaving many in a struggle for proper cancer care.

He underscored the pressing need for a high-caliber government-operated cancer hospital to cater to the people of Punjab. He stressed that it is the government's duty to provide top-notch healthcare services to cancer patients. The chief minister has directed swift decisions regarding the design of the cancer hospital and other relevant matters, and has urged thorough planning for the procurement of essential machinery and equipment.

A meeting convened in the committee room of Manawan Hospital, chaired by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, reviewed the proceedings related to the establishment of the cancer hospital. Mian Ahsan of Indus, Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Health, Finance, Communication & Works, Special Secretary of Health, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, and other pertinent officers were also in attendance.
