SIALKOT (92 News) - Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted a detailed inspection of Government Sardar Begum Civil Hospital Sialkot and Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.

Government Sardar Begum Hospital was found lacking in medical facilities, with damaged beds, damp walls, and an evident sewage stench due to passing of sewerage pipe inside the hospital. Patients' attendants were compelled to sit on the floor in poorly maintained rooms.

The CM while announcing upgradation along with undertaking redesigning of the hospital stated that Government Sardar Begum Civil Hospital Sialkot will also be upgraded with a budget of Rs210 million and 21,000 square feet area of the hospital will be upgraded.

Mohsin Naqvi monitored the upgradation project, visited various wards, inquired after the patients and inquired from them about the treatment facilities. He personally reviewed facilities in Emergency, ICU, Gynaecology, Lab, and other wards. He conducted a detailed visit of the basement, ground floor, first floor and expressed his indignation over poor condition of the classrooms. CM listened to the issue of an elderly woman in the hospital and issued directions to the DC for its resolution.

Later, the Chief Minister visited Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital Sialkot and evaluated the ongoing upgradation project of the hospital. Mohsin Naqvi inspected ongoing construction activities in the hospital.

He said that upgradation project of the Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital will cost Rs. 70 crore and 65 percent upgradation work of the Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital Sialkot has been accomplished. One lakh square feet area of Allama Iqbal Medical Teaching Hospital Sialkot will be revamped while in the second phase remaining 50,000 square feet area of the hospital will be upgraded. He monitored ongoing work in the various wards and ordered to complete the upgradation project within stipulated period.
