CM Murad visits parts of rain-ravaged Karachi to review rescue work

KARACHI (92 News) - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited different parts of the provincial capital on Sunday night to review rescue and relief operations in rain-devastated areas. Flanked by provincial ministers Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah, the CM reached Garden Town and expressed resentment over accumulation of rainwater on road outside Makki Masjid. During his visits, CM Shah directed the rescue teams for speedy drainage of water. The entire city gave a drowning look owing to heavy downpour and badly exposed civic weaknesses of the city district government. The life was almost paralyzed in the entire city and citizens were unable to visit sacrificial animal markets because of rainwater everywhere. There is strong possibility that people may miss Eid prayer as they will have to find dry places for Eid prayers and fulfill Sunnah-e-Ibrahimi. The persistent rain spell on Sunday left the city of Quaid drowned in water and major animal market turned to no go area buyers. The rainwater entered the houses of residents who were seen damning the administration while saving their belongings. Some roads were damaged badly and underpasses got filled with water. Power break down in parts of Karachi exposed the working and efficiency of Karachi Electric Power Company (K-Electric). The road and railways transport remained suspended for hours. Rainwater also entered Wazir Mansion, the residence of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Director General Sindh Rangers also visited different parts of the city and inspected the rescue and relief operation conducted by soldiers of Pakistan Army and Rangers.
