CM Punjab launches polio vaccination campaign by administering anti-polio vaccine to children

LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has launched polio vaccination campaign and he himself administered anti-polio vaccine to children.

Special ceremony was held at CM office regarding anti-polio campaign. Provisional Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid also vaccinated children against polio. Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal and Secretary Primary and Secondary Health also vaccinated children against polio.

This campaign will continue for five days till December 17. Two days are dedicated for the children who have missed out vaccine. CM Punjab said that 10.7 million children who are under five from all over the province will be vaccinated. “In this campaign more than 1, 56,000 polio workers will participate. Training has been given to the frontline polio workers regarding COVID-19 SOPs, protocols and precautionary measurements. During polio campaign implementation on COVID-19 SOPs will be ensured.

Polio workers are our heros who go from door to door for polio vaccination. Because of the efforts of polio teams, this year not any case of polio was recorded. All the environmental samples were free from polio virus which we obtained from Punjab in last six months. Protecting children from polio is our national duty,” he concluded.
