ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has reduced the prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs9 per liter. The new price has been fixed at Rs84.50 per liter. CNG Association chairman Ghayyas Paracha said that the prices have been decreased keeping in view the coronavirus crisis and a cut in the prices of petrol. He said that efforts are being made to reduce the prices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. “I hope that the CNG prices will further be reduced on April 1,” he added. On March 24, the federal government had reduced the prices of petroleum products by Rs15 per litre. After the decrease in the prices, petrol is being sold at Rs96.60 per litre. The diesel price was fixed at Rs107.25. Likewise, kerosene oil is being sold at Rs77.45 per litre after the Rs15 decrease. The new prices have become effective. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced an Rs15 per litre decrease in the prices of POL products. “An amount of Rs200 billion has been allocated for the poor section. We will also talk to industrialists for the people losing jobs due to the crisis. Rs100 billion has been reserved for the agriculture sector. We will give a refund of Rs100 billion to the export sector,” he declared. Imran Khan said that the people consuming up to 300 units will be able to pay their bills in three installments. “A sum of Rs280 billion has been allocated for purchasing wheat. Rs25 billion has been allocated for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). A package of Rs1.5 billion has been reserved for the poor families and each family will get Rs3,000 per month,” he said.
