CNG stations again closed for indefinite period across Sindh

KARACHI (92 News) – CNG stations have been again closed for an indefinite period across Sindh, including Karachi on Friday. According to the details garnered, CNG stations are on the verge of collapse across Sindh. According to SSGC officials, CNG stations were opened across Sindh for 24 hours. The citizens especially transporters are facing severe difficulties due to CNG closure. According to the SSGC spokesperson, the future schedule will be based on the gas pressure situation. Earlier, the CNG stations across the province were opened for 12 hours from 7:00am. Gas supply resumed at CNG stations in Karachi as well as other parts of the province at 7am, which will remain open until 7 pm, according to Sui Southern Gas Supply Company (SSGC) spokesperson. “Any further decision regarding to open the gas stations in the province are linked with the availability of gas pressure,” the SSGC said. The gas supply at the CNG stations has suffered during the winter season due to excessive use. Amid low gas pressure, the SSGC has rescheduled the opening of CNG stations in the province bringing it down from the opening of the stations for four days in a week to two days and that even for 12-hours or even less than that. Earlier on Feb 2, compressed Natural Gas stations across Sindh opened this morning for 12 hours. According to SSGC spokesperson, gas supply will be available at CNG stations in Karachi as well as other parts of the province at 7am, which will remain open until 7pm. Low gas pressure and a spike in domestic demand owing to cold weather conditions prevailing in parts of the country have forced the company to halt gas supply to the CNG sector, causing many problems for people, especially commuters who largely rely on public transport for a daily commute.
