COAS calls on PM, discusses national security matters of country
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both the leaders discussed national security of the country among other affairs. Besides national security, the two figures also discussed professional affairs of the military.
It was also reported that the prime minister and army chief exchanged views on matters relating to ongoing anti-terrorism operations and national action plan (NAP).
Earlier in the day, renowned educationist Syed Azhar Hussain Abidi also called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.
According to ISPR, the Army Chief appreciated the services rendered by Azhar Abidi toward promotion of education in the country.
Abidi has provided counseling and assisted more than fifteen thousand Pakistani students including wards of martyrs for their studies abroad on full or partial scholarships over the last two decades.
Earlier today, Secretary of State’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.
During the meeting, the prime minister has reiterated Pakistan’s abiding interest in achieving peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan through political settlement.
Recalling his long personal commitment to the cause of peace in the region, PM Khan welcomed President Trump’s letter and the US assurance to work with Pakistan on this shared objective.
The premier also emphasized on the importance of intensifying regular engagement on priority areas in the bilateral context particularly trade, investment, education, health and social sector development.
Ambassador Khalilzad conveyed the good wishes of President Donald Trump to the prime minister. He also said the US leadership looks forward to working with Pakistan in furthering the shared goal of peace through a political settlement in Afghanistan.
