ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif contacted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed situation at the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday. The Army chief briefed the prime minister over the unprovoked firing by the Indian border forces along the Line of Control (LoC). During the telephonic conversation, General Raheel Sharif said that the Indian claims of surgical strikes were baseless. He said that the Pakistan army has given befitting response to Indian aggression along the LoC. Earlier, ISPR rejected Indian claim of surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC). It said India started unprovoked firing which was effectively responded to by Pakistani troops. The notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by Indian to create false effects. This quest by Indian establishment to create media hype by rebranding cross border fire as surgical strike is fabrication of truth. Pakistan has made it clear that if there is a surgical strike on Pakistani soil, same will be strongly responded. Tensions between the nuclear arch rivals have been high since an Indian crackdown on innocent Kashmiris following the killing by security forces of Burhan Wani, in July. The incident comes a day after Pakistan said India will “disintegrate” when Kashmir gains independence. India is trying to isolate Pakistan diplomatically after a recent militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 18 Indian soldiers. New Delhi blames a Pakistan-based militant group for the attack. Pakistan denies that.
