COLOMBO (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday.
According to press release issued by ISPR, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena appreciated Pakistan army's successes in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb and sacrifices for regional peace and stability.
“Pakistan has played a substantial role in helping consolidate the integrity of Sri Lanka,” he said.
The Army Chief appreciated Sri Lankan government, people and security forces in fighting terrorism and progress made thereafter.
Later COAS also held separate meetings with State Minister for Defence Dinendra Ruwan Wijewardene, Secretary Defence BMUD Basnayake, Chief of Defence Services of Sri Lanka General J Jayasuriya and Commander Sri Lankan Air Force Air Marshall KA Gunatilleke.
During these meetings, Sri Lankan civil and military leadership vowed to enhance cooperation in multiple areas related to defence and security.
