COAS has clarified that army people involved in smuggling will be court-martialled: Sarfraz Bugti

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that COAS Asim Munir had clarified that the army people involved in smuggling would be court-martialled.

Addressing a press conference along with Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi on Monday, he said that the army had proved its accountability system with the action against the May 9 incidents.

"Politicians and government officers are also included in smuggling. There will be no leniency for anyone, no matter how big he is," he declared.

He said that it is true that smuggling is done under the nose of security agencies. "It is done by trucks, not camels."

Sarfraz Bugti said that action will continue against smugglers, 'hawala hundi' and mafias.

"The caretaker government stopped the smuggling of wheat, sugar, Urea and petroleum. Joint check-posts comprising of Customs, Frontier Corps and all other institutions have been established with regard to anti-smuggling," he maintained.
