COAS meets Afghan President, discusses range of issues

KABUL (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Sunday held talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul. The Army Chief traveled to neighboring Afghanistan on Sunday (today) for a daylong official visit on the invitation of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to discuss ways to enhance bilateral counterterrorism and border security cooperation. The COAS reached Afghan Presidential Palace where he was warmly welcomed. Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa held talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar was also present in the meeting. According to the Afghanistan’s Presidential office, matters relating to ongoing war on terror, trade, bilateral relationships, peace and stability and regional security came under discussion. Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Omar Zakhilwal in his tweet called the meeting between the two leaders as constructive, candid, positive, respectful and encouraging.
