RAWALPINDI (92 News) Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir conferred prestigious military honours upon officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army during an investiture ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
In a moving tribute, medals including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Basalat were awarded for acts of outstanding gallantry and distinguished service. The ceremony also recognised the nation’s fallen heroes, with families of the martyrs receiving awards posthumously on their behalf.
Addressing a gathering of senior military officials, recipients, and bereaved families, the army chief described the martyrs (Shuhada) and war veterans (Ghazis) as the "pride of the nation", asserting that their honour is a sacred trust for every Pakistani.
“The peace and liberty we enjoy today are the result of the ultimate sacrifices rendered by these valiant sons of the soil,” he said. He lauded the resilience of the martyrs’ families, calling their strength a shining example of patriotism.
The COAS also commended the relentless efforts of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in counter-terrorism operations, acknowledging their critical role in safeguarding national security amidst rising threats, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The solemn ceremony stood as a powerful tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the armed forces and their families, reinforcing their pivotal role in the defence and unity of Pakistan.
