COAS Qamar Bajwa announces Rs 50 million from Army's Welfare Fund for PHF

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Brigadier Khalid Sajjad Khokhar (Retired) called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, the PHF president briefed the COAS on steps being taken to regain the standard of hockey across the country. The COAS said that Army has always supported sports and especially hockey. "The government is keen to revive hockey and this opportunity should be used to maximum," he added. The COAS pledged Rs 50 million out of Army's Welfare Fund for the PHF. The PHF president thanked the COAS for continued support to hockey and pledged enhanced efforts towards improvement of standards. Pakistan Army has already made two astroturf stadiums available to the PHF in Rawalpindi and Okara.
