COAS Qamar Bajwa expresses condolences over loss of lives in Turkey earthquake

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed condolences over loss of precious lives due to earthquake in Turkey. According to a press release issued by the ISPR on Saturday, a Pakistan Army contingent, including special rescue and relief team and field medical facilities, is ready as part of assistance offered by the government. On January 25, Kanasugi Kenji, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Japan, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, matters of mutual interest, overall regional situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meeting. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two countries. On January 21, Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo had paid a farewell call to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, COAS thanked the Italian ambassador for his services in Pakistan and acknowledged his contributions towards strengthening Pakistan – Italy relations. The COAS also congratulated the ambassador on his appointment as Civil Senior Representative of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Afghanistan. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role for ensuring peace and stability in the region and also pledged to contribute positively towards Afghan peace.
