COAS approves army support plan for 6th population & housing census

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has approved a plan to support the conduct of 6th population & housing census. According to the DG ISPR, about 200,000 troops will be part of the census, while army will continue to fulfill its operational responsibilities during this time. According to the constitution, it is mandatory to conduct census in each decade. The census was conducted in 1951, 1961, 1972, 1981 and 1998. The census in 1991 was postponed due political turmoil. Pakistan conducted census last time in 1998.
